VICE CHANCELLORS--ADMINISTRATION

Subject: CANCELLED Revised Salary Range Projections

Below is an updated table showing projected salary increases for use in proposal budgets beginning February 1, 1998. For faculty, other academic employees, and staff employees in a step-based pay plan, separately budget for range adjustments and then add merit increases where applicable. For staff employees in merit based pay plans, budget an average increase with no separate calculations for cost-of-living and merit.

*Includes professional researchers, research assistants, postgraduate researchers, physical education instructors, acting instructors, lecturers other than those with security of employment, visiting professors, visiting astronomers, visiting agronomers, librarians, specialists, and those with 'recalled' in their titles, and most other academic title codes except those in the ladder rank faculty.

The table reflects the most recent information on projected future range and merit/pool increases for 1998/99 and beyond. Based on the most recent faculty salary survey, the final faculty salary 'catch-up' increase will be made in 98/99, after which salary parity will be attained and the normal cost-of-living adjustments reinstated.

Funds to support the staff employee incentive awards will continue to be budgeted as part of employee fringe benefits, as described in Contract and Grant Memo 96-08. A copy of this Contract and Grant Memo has been transmitted to the Division of Cost Allocation, HHS Region IX, to satisfy the requirement that the University notify its cognizant agency of changes in the University's salary projections.
