Subject: U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation Project Agreements
In August, 2003, the U. S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation for the Independent States
of theFormer Soviet Union (CRDF) issued a new Project Agreement for funding for scientific and
technological cooperations between higher educational institutions in the United States and countries
of the former Soviet Union. This new Project Agreement revised the General Terms and Conditions
which CRDF had in its previous agreements with the University of California. University campuses
were unable to accept the new terms and conditions due to language in several areas, including
copyrights, liability, governing law, and insurance.
CRDF agreed to revise its terms and conditions for the University of California. The approved
revisions are provided as an Addendum to the Project Agreement. Both the 8/13/2003 version
of the CRDF Project Agreement and the Addendum of negotiated changes with the University
of California are enclosed with this memo.
