About the Research Administration OfficeManagement of Sponsored Projects is a major mission activity of the University of California. Annually, this activity involves $2 billion, 18,000 proposals, and an average portfolio of 15,000 active awards from over 3,000 sponsors. Sponsors impose numerous institutional and performance requirements. Thousands of University employees are involved in administering these projects on nine UC Campuses in central administration offices and academic departments and three DOE Laboratories. The Research Administration Office is the institution-wide focal point for extramural contract and grant policy. It is responsible for monitoring and responding to changes in sponsor requirements, and working to interpret and implement sponsor requirements consistent with University needs. Current information about institutional and sponsor requirements is a critical prerequisite for proper management of these projects by all of the University employees and offices responsible for research administration. The RAO Home Page is intended to provide electronic access to the body of required research administration information: University generated policies and data bases; direct links to Federal and State sources.; and professional societies. RAO plans to further develop and expand the RAO Home Page to meet the needs of research administrators in response to the decentralization of contract and grant responsibilities on some campuses. You are invited to email comments and recommendations for improving the usefulness of the RAO Home Page to the RAO Home Page Master: rao-webmaster@ucop.edu.
