Sponsor's Corner- October 2016

“Non-Party Animal” that I am, I must admit I had a great time taking part in the Bay Area P200 Celebration at the end of August. While my bowling score may not have reflected my full enthusiasm, I certainly enjoyed mingling and watching everyone relax and have fun outside the office.  It can sometimes be hard to pull ourselves from our work, and this well-deserved celebration also served as a great reminder of how stepping away can reduce stress, increase morale, elevate creativity and improve communication between co-workers. I especially want to thank the members of the planning committee for their successful efforts in uniting our simultaneous systemwide celebrations to represent “One UC Procurement.”

As we bask in the glow of our P200 accomplishments ending the FY15-16 year, we also recognize that we can ill afford to rest on our laurels.  Accordingly, we are preparing to take our already revolutionary program to the next level, Supply Chain 500. System and campus leadership, as well as operating staff throughout UC’s supply chain continuum, are participating in advisory groups and design workshops to determine our readiness for SC500. It is exciting and encouraging to witness the tremendous interest and positive energy thus far invested in this critically important initiative.

I encourage you to read the SC500 update in this issue to increase your understanding of the goals we hope to achieve during this assessment phase. Final recommendations will be shared with you in late October.
