Proof of Concept Program: Commercialization Gap Grants

Call for Proposals Now Open

The University of California is now accepting applications for the system wide Proof of Concept Program: Commercialization Gap Grants (POC). The POC initiative is an effort to bridge the gap from research to commercialization in what is sometimes called "the valley of death:" that is, the absence of an industry sponsor and the lack of funding to build a prototype of a product or service that could then be used to solicit investment for a new company or license a new product. By facilitating the successful commercialization of innovations to society, this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on California and the state's economy.

This research opportunity is open to all fields, including physical sciences and engineering, life sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. Applicants may request up to one year of funding.

Please review the RFP, LOI and Application Instructions for additional information.

Questions regarding this funding opportunity may be directed to the Research Grants Program Office. E-mail RGPOGrants@ucop.edu  or call 510-987-9386.
