CSIS Statewide Student ID

" Students should be able to obtain their Statewide Student ID through their school counselor, registrar or their school staff. "

Requested in 2007–08 Application

The University is asking applicants for the 2007–08 academic year to provide their Statewide Student ID number as part of their application.

Every student who attends a California K-12 public school is assigned a Statewide Student Identifier by CSIS, the California School Information Services. This unique 10-digit number enables the state Department of Education to comply with federal data reporting requirements as students progress from year to year and school to school, without using personally identifiable information, such as
a student’s name.

Providing this number in the application is optional. UC will not use the number in the admissions process. Rather, the University is requesting the number to help support federal requirements for reporting students’ educational attainment over time.

Students should be able to obtain their Statewide Student ID through their school counselor, registrar or their school staff who are responsible for student record-keeping. It may also be printed on students’ California Standards Tests or high school transcripts. For more information, see the California School Information Services website.
