Orientation 2008 Schedule

Programs Smooth Path for Incoming UC Students

New UC students should make plans to attend an orientation session at their campus. Each UC campus plans its own orientation, usually with separate programs for freshmen and transfer students, and most with added features for the student’s family. Some are one-day events, while others offer overnight stays.

Orientations introduce students to campus life through counseling sessions, presentations and workshops. Students can participate in academic advising sessions, learn about course and major requirements, and become familiar with different aspects of student life on campus. They can even register for courses.

During programs that run more than one day, students stay overnight in campus residence halls meals are included.
Two- and three-day sessions generally include placement exams, peer counseling, and course planning and enrollment.

Students who will enroll at the University will receive information about their orientations, including any required fees and instructions for registering. So that counselors also have much of the same information, here are the orientation schedules:

LOS ANGELES

UCLA will hold 11 three-day orientation sessions for freshmen and seven one-day sessions for transfer students, as well as family orientations, from July 3 to Aug. 29. Students will be able to register for orientation online beginning June 2.
