San Diego
Campus Marks Commitment to Community Service
Chancellor
Robert Dynes shined the spotlight on several UC San Diego community
service programs in the North County coastal area during a reception
and discussion with community members in late January.
The event was the first of five visits to San Diego County to be
held by Dynes to celebrate UCSD's 40th anniversary. The University
is marking the anniversary by giving 40 gifts of public service
from faculty, staff and students and encouraging the community to
participate in its numerous community service or outreach programs
throughout the county.
Among the programs highlighted were Casa de la Clase Magica, a program
that helps children, adolescents and adults in a predominantly Mexican
community prepare academically and socially to succeed in school;
and the Partnership of Immunization Providers, a program to improve
the delivery of immunizations for preschool children.
