Record Number of Schools Participate in ELC

More than 1,200 California schools — comprising 98 percent of public schools and more than 83 percent of private schools — submitted high school transcripts for the Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) and Dual Admissions (DAP) programs this year. The University identified more than 14,000 ELC and 3,500 DAP students.

UC started online applications for the 38,000 students evaluated for ELC and DAP. These pre-populated applications displayed demographic information and coursework for ninth through 11th grade. Students were required to edit the information and make any needed corrections such as grade changes. They also had to add their 12th grade coursework and any additional information required to complete the academic record.

The University continues to streamline the electronic submission processes for high school transcripts. Last year, 25 schools with the SASIxp student information system (SIS) participated in a pilot for submitting paperless transcripts via the Internet. This year, 165 schools submitted transcripts electronically, including 31 from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). LAUSD was able to submit paperless transcripts from the district office, alleviating the load on counselors at school sites. Next year, schools that use the Aries by Eagle student information system will also be able to send transcripts electronically for ELC evaluation.

School districts interested in creating a file layout similar to that used by LAUSD may contact the ELC program by e-mail.
