UC Santa BarbaraReading Program Honored for Community Engagement"UCSB Reads," a program that involves the entire campus community in reading a compelling, timely and important book, has earned one of the most coveted accolades among U.S. libraries, the John Cotton Dana Library Award. The award honored the 2007 "UCSB Reads" initiative to peruse, discuss and even "recycle" (to other readers) Field Notes From a Catastrophe, a book on global warming by New Yorker columnist Elizabeth Kolbert. The book chosen for 2008 is The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy, by economist Pietra Rivoli, illustrating the issues of globalization in the life story of a simple T-shirt. :: For more information, visit the UCSB Reads website. |
