DAP/GTO Timeline 2004-2005

Summer 2003:

High schools send student transcripts to UC to identify juniors who rank between the top 4 percent to 12.5 percent to of their class.

September 2003:

UC notifies high school students of their DAP eligibility. Eligible students are invited to apply to UC in November.

Nov. 1-30, 2003:

Fall 2004 application filing period. DAP-eligible students who want to attend UC apply during this period.

All DAP-eligible students are provided with a personalized PATHWAYS application that has been partially completed ("pre-populated") on their behalf, using the information sent from their high school during the summer.

Because the application has already been started for the student, it is much easier to complete. Moreover, students can modify any information that has changed - and make sure their application is complete and correct before they submit it.

In addition, students should start
planning which California community college they would like to attend. There
is no fee to apply to a community college, and students can apply to multiple
community colleges to keep their options open. Applying now ensures students
will have priority enrollment status when they choose their courses in the
fall. You can link you to any one of the 108 community college home pages and follow their directions for admission. Most community college applications take less than 20 minutes to complete.

January 2004:

Priority filing period opens for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

March 2004:

DAP applicants are notified of admission to a specific UC campus, via the Guaranteed Transfer Option (GTO) process.

June 1, 2004:

Deadline for GTO students to submit their statement of intent to participate (SIP) and to indicate the primary California community college where they will complete their required transferable coursework. (The interactive GTO web portal will open April 1, 2004. The SIP function will open May 1, 2004.)

June-August 2004:

GTO students receive information from the UC campus where they plan to transfer. Student and UC campus adviser develop an academic contract for completion of lower division coursework at a California community college.

Fall 2004:

First GTO students enroll in California community colleges.
