Some battles are waged on fields of dreams...

...but thousands of California's school children and their families dare not even to dream because the kinds of classes and preparation that it takes to get ahead in today's competitive world are not available in their schools. These children, many of them poor, many of them from families of recent immigrants, some too disillusioned with life to see the possibilities that exist, reflect the face of California's future.
