NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

This is a Notice of Meeting of the University of California Board of Regents, for the purpose of appointing a new director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, to be held via teleconference on Thursday, June 17, beginning at 2 p.m.

At the meeting, the regents' committees on finance and the oversight of the Department of Energy laboratories will convene concurrently in closed session to consider matters related to the appointment and compensation of a new director [Education Code § 92032(b)(7)]. That session will be followed by a closed session of the full board.

Reporters and other members of the public cannot dial in to the conference call directly, as the meeting will be in closed session. The meeting agenda is available online at www.universityofcalifornia.edu/regents/regmeet/june04.html. (Locations where regents will participate in the call are listed on the agenda, but reporters and other members of the public will not be able to participate in the closed-session meeting from those locations.)

MEDIA AVAILABILITY

Shortly after the regents' action, the candidate and UC President Robert C. Dynes will be available to the media, both on-site at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and via telephone conference call. Details about the media availability will be forthcoming in a later advisory.
