NOTICE OF REGENTS' MEETING AND MEDIA AVAILABILITY REGARDING THE APPOINTMENT OF A UC BERKELEY CHANCELLOR
This is a Notice of Special Meeting of the University of California Board of Regents to be held by telephone conference call on Tuesday, July 27, for the purpose of acting on the appointment of and compensation for a chancellor for UC Berkeley.
The meeting will begin at 2:30 p.m. Pacific time with a closed session for personnel matters [Education Code 92032(b)(7)], followed by an open session including the opportunity for public comment. A media availability with the candidate, UC President Robert C. Dynes, and current UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert M. Berdahl will follow at 3:15 p.m. Pacific time.
Reporters wishing to cover the meeting in person may come to the Morrison Room of the Doe Library on the UC Berkeley campus for the open-session portion of the meeting and the subsequent media availability, to be held in the same location. Out-of-town reporters may listen to the open-session portion of the Regents' meeting over the Internet and may connect to the media availability by telephone conference call. Details are provided below.
Reporters and other members of the public cannot dial in to the Regents' conference call directly, as portions of the call will be in closed session. However, they may go to any of the locations where Regents will be participating in the call:

In addition, audio of the open-session portion of the meeting will be broadcast live over the Internet. (The audio feed is turned off for the closed-session portion of the meeting.) A press release and downloadable photograph of the candidate will be available on the UC web site at www.universityofcalifornia.edu shortly after the Regents' action.
At 3:15 p.m., following the Regents' action, a media availability with the candidate, UC President Robert C. Dynes, and current UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert M. Berdahl will be held in the Morrison Room of the Doe Library. (There may be a delay if the meeting is running late.)
Out-of-town reporters can access the media availability by dialing into a telephone conference call. Interested reporters may obtain the necessary information by contacting one of the UC media representatives listed at the top of this meeting notice.
PARKING ON THE UC BERKELEY CAMPUS
Parking for media will be available in reserved spaces along South Hall Drive near Doe Library. Enter the campus from either the West Gate at Oxford and University, or the East Gate off Gayley Road, and pick up a special permit at the parking kiosk. Immediately following the media availability, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Chancellor Berdahl will introduce the candidate to the Berkeley community on the steps of Doe Library. A visit by Cal's Straw Hat Band and campus mascot Oski is expected as part of the event.
