“We take these incidents very seriously, and we are
taking immediate and decisive actions to address them. I have
been in close contact with the laboratory director about these
matters. In addition to the actions already being taken by
the laboratory, I am today directing that an independent external
review of the management of the security function at the Livermore
laboratory be undertaken.
“I also welcome the review announced today by the National
Nuclear Security Administration, and the University will cooperate
with that review in every way. Security is a paramount concern,
and we must take all necessary steps to prevent it from being
compromised in any way.”
