This is a Notice of Meeting of the University of California Board of Regents on Wednesday, Jan. 16, and Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002. This regular business meeting of the board will be held at Covel Commons on the UCLA campus.

Wednesday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed by open session of the full board at 8:45 a.m. Agenda items for the Wednesday open sessions include a discussion of the graduate education commission report, actions related to UC Merced campus planning and a report on Gov. Davis' 2002-03 budget proposal.

The Wednesday afternoon agenda will be conducted in closed session for the purpose of discussing personnel, property and investment matters.

Thursday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed at 8:45 a.m. by an open session of the Committee on Educational Policy. The Thursday sessions will include a report on UC's educational outreach and K-12 improvement programs, action on a proposed tuition waiver program for California high school graduates subject to non-resident tuition, discussion of the university's multi-campus research units and an update on health care services at several UC campuses.
