Dear Colleagues:
The campus community of UCSF abhors and mourns the tragic events that occurred earlier today. All campuses of the University of California have remained open. But I ask that supervisors exert liberal discretion in excusing personnel from their duties today, so that they can be with family and loved ones if they so desire. Our hearts go out to those who have lost loved ones in today's tragedies.
We have no reason to believe that the campus is now at special risk, but suitable precautions are being implemented. Further details will be provided as they become available, particularly at the UCSF Today website: http://pub.ucsf.edu/today/index.php.
