Teacher Education and Professional Development Web Site Debuts
A new UCOP Web site with information about university-sponsored professional
development programs is now "live" and welcoming visitors at
http://tepd.ucop.edu. The site features
programs within the newly formed Teacher Education and Professional Development
unit led by Assistant Vice President Robert Polkinghorn. TE&PD is
a program segment of UCOP's Educational Outreach Department. Its program
categories are professional development, educational leadership, teacher
preparation and certification, and special programs.
The site incorporates and will be updating in coming weeks the large,
existing site for the California Subject Matter Projects as well as the
site for the California Professional Development Institutes. CSMP and
CPDI offer institutes and other programs for 70,000 plus K-12 teachers
annually. Prospective participants in these events-both new Web users
and long-timers-will find program information, scheduling details, and
abundant subject area resources that are standards and research-based
at this site.
The new site features a News and Highlights section with articles of
interest to UC faculty and staff, K-12 teachers and administrators, prospective
teachers, and members of the public who are interested in education news.
The site will be linked to the redesigned UCOP home page and other UCOP
programs, UC NewsWire, campuses, sites of other intersegmental campuses
and programs that relate to TE&PD's programs, as well as many other
education resources.
Future plans include provision for customizing the site according to
users' individual interests and needs.
Please direct questions or comments about the TE&PD Web site to robert.polkinghorn@ucop.edu
or glenda.gentry@ucop.edu.
