JOSEPH MULLINIX APPOINTED UC SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT FOR BUSINESS AND FINANCE

Joseph P. Mullinix has been appointed University of California systemwide senior vice president for business and finance, UC President Richard C. Atkinson announced today (March 16).

Mullinix is a senior administrative and finance official at Yale University, serving as vice president for finance and administration. He is responsible for financial operations, investments, debt management, facilities, human resources, labor relations, student administrative services and information technology.

As senior vice president for business and finance at UC, Mullinix will oversee a wide range of administrative functions ranging from long-range budget planning to human resources to the university’s management of the Lawrence Berkeley, Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos national laboratories.

"Joe Mullinix has a terrific background in management, ranging from work in the private sector to the federal government to premier universities," Atkinson said. "I am delighted that he has decided to join the university and bring his expertise to California."

Mullinix served with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as a senior analyst and in the federal Office of Management and Budget. Before joining Yale in 1993, he worked for 10 years at Columbia University, where he rose to senior vice president.

He received his A.B. from Georgetown University and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1965.
