Imperial Valley team snares international robotics award
The Central Union High School (Imperial Valley MESA Program) Robotics Team recently won the Judges Award at the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competition’s Los Angeles Regional Contest. Despite significant obstacles, the team took second place among rookie teams and 12th overall. The FIRST Robotics Competition is a multinational competition that teams professionals and young people to solve engineering design problems.
This year more than 28,000 high school students competed from 1,125 teams in 33 regional events. The MESA teacher at Central Union High School
is J.P. Garcia. The director of the Imperial Valley MESA Center is Victor Torres.
