MESA named exemplary program

MESA was selected by the California Campaign for College Opportunity (CCO) as one of 15 exemplary statewide programs that improve college access. The programs were selected for their quality, innovation, effective use of resources, and example of outstanding working solutions for policymakers and education leaders.

The importance of the selected programs is that they “simplify the process of going to college, they forge connections between high schools, community colleges and universities, and clear a path for student success,” said Abdi Soltani, executive director of the CCO.

The CCO works to ensure that the next generation of college-age students in California has the chance to go to college as promised by the state 1960 Master Plan for Higher Education.

The co-founders of the CCO are the California Business Roundtable, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Community College League of California.
