Re: HOPS Information Literacy Common Interest Group (IL CIG)
The IL CIG's 2004/05 activities have focused on "promoting and enhancing enhancing information literacy programs for the University of California Libraries for the future.” The IL CIG has been working on two major projects: a web page and a training proposal.
The web page, "Information Literacy: What the UC Libraries Are Doing" (http://libraries.universityofcalifornia.edu/infolit/), was completed in February. At the recommendation of the LAUC Information Literacy Task Force, several existing web pages were drawn on to create new pages maintained by the IL CIG. The purpose of the site is to link to information literacy resources; to provide an overview of information literacy activities on UC campuses; and to link to national, state, disciplinary and accreditation sites that provide additional context for initiatives on the UC campuses. Any information literacy related news may be sent to page editor Sarah McDaniel ( smcdanie@library.berkeley.edu) for possible inclusion on the page.
A task force of volunteers from the IL CIG wrote a new proposal for an Information Literacy Best Practices Workshop, which would be attended by representatives from the campuses. The proposal is currently under consideration by HOPS
