Academic Life
As a graduate student at UC Irvine you will become part of the unlimited potential that defines the Irvine campus. Major research developments, expansion of academic programs and the impressive achievements of its faculty, students and graduates have earned UC Irvine national and international recognition. A member of the prestigious Association of American Universities, UC Irvine is continuously named one of the 10 best public universities in the nation by U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings of America’s leading universities. In addition, UC Irvine ranks among the nation’s top 20 research universities according to a Johns Hopkins University publication, The Rise of American Research Universities: Elites and Challengers of the Post War Era. UC Irvine was the first public university where two faculty members won Nobel Prizes (in chemistry and physics) in the same year, and a third Nobel Prize has since been received. Leading academic and research pursuits such as these continue to attract the nation’s top faculty and students to UCI’s graduate degree programs, offered in over 100 academic disciplines. UC Irvine strives to enroll an academically talented student population reflective of the population at large, inclusive of those traditionally underrepresented in various academic fields, and from a range of ages, national origins, physical disabilities, religions, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic levels. |
