Web-Based Application Development

IR&C develops dynamic Web pages and database-driven Web sites to allow customers to access real-time data and information. We work with our customers to evaluate their needs and create business solutions such as centralized data access and on-the-fly reporting against active stores of information.

Customized Web applications may include features such as searches, document uploading, data import and monitoring, data entry screens, and various report formats. An example of one use of dynamically generated Web pages is the IR&C organizational charts, which provides contact information for IR&C employees when a box on an organization chart is selected

A variety of applications have been developed for departments to aid in reporting to the State of California and to The Regents, and to automate the entry of data into centralized data repositories. These applications are accessed via the Web and provide a secure means for collecting, manipulating, and reporting data. Departmental modules for administering applications may also be developed (e.g., for account creation and maintenance). Examples include an on-line project tracker, a continuing medical education course database, and a systemwide directory of marine sciences educators.

Access to many of the applications that IR&C has developed is restricted to authorized account holders, and is not available without a userid and password. Individual demonstrations of some applications are available upon request. Customers include the Academic Senate, Continuing Medical Education, the Budget Office, Financial Management, Health Affairs, the Universitywide AIDS Research Program, the University Auditor, Educational Outreach, Student Academic Services, the Office of Research, and Facilities Administration.
