Voice Services provides voice and networking services
for the UC Office of the President
and campuses, as well as the UC offices in Sacramento, Washington, D.C., and the Central Valley.
The unit manages and operates the UC videoconference network, which connects the UC
campuses and the Office of the President, and links them to the California State
University and California Community College campuses. Voice Services
maintains a separate network for the UC risk management offices throughout the state.
Voice Services provides various consultation services as
well. It negotiates
universitywide contracts with long-distance carriers and provides input on proposed
UC information technology policies, proposed federal and state legislation that affects UC voice
and networking service, and proposed FCC and CPUC regulatory modifications.
