    Undergraduate Admission Systems

    Manager Jane Meyer

The Undergraduate Admission Systems unit provides application development and support for a variety of application systems sponsored by Student Academic Services at UCOP.

The primary systems supported by the Undergraduate Admission Systems team are listed below. These are all UC proprietary Web-based software applications, developed in Java and are J2EE compliant. They run in a multi-tier Websphere ND v5 environment.

    • Undergraduate Admission Application (Pathways)
Pathways handles the undergraduate application for admissions and scholarships. The system allows an applicant to fill out a single standard application for one or all nine UC undergraduate campuses. It is used by 99% of the approximately 110,000 freshman and transfer applicants to UC each year.
    • Application Update (WIP-Transfer Work in Progress)
Transfer applicants are required to provide updates to their original application regarding their grades and in-progress coursework. WIP is the on-line system for this purpose.
    • Intercampus Summer Enrollment (ISE)
ISE supports the exchange of summer enrollment information for the purpose of providing financial aid to UC students engaged in intercampus enrollment during the summer period.

The Undergraduate Admission Systems group also supports the Effort Reporting System, which is a compliance mechanism by which "effort" or personnel time spent on federally sponsored projects is certified per federal regulation. IR&C developed the system at the request of the campuses to modernize the University's effort reporting process so as to avoid significant audit disallowances or rulings for financial settlements against the University. Five campuses use the system; IR&C runs the system for three of these campuses.
