Description

The Universitywide Demographics Database holds selected data on all UC employees and UC managed national laboratory employees, limited student data from each campus, and employee telecommunications information. The employee information supports the UC for Yourself self-service Web site. A unique identifier (netid) is assigned to each record in the database. This UC netid is the digital certificate stored in the UC PKI Project.

Technical Information

The Universitywide Demographics Database is stored in a Sybase database on the UNIX operating system. Employee data is submitted from campus and laboratory payroll systems to the UCOP ppsivr system, which then feeds the records to the demographics database for processing. Student and telecommunications data are sent by the campuses and processed directly into the demographics database.
