Description
The Analytical Writing Placement Exam (AWPE) requirement is the University of California's standard level of reading and writing competence necessary for success in UC introductory courses. Students may meet the requirement with satisfactory scores on the SAT II writing examination, the Advanced Placement English language or English literature examinations, or the Universitywide Advanced Writing Placement Examination, among other methods.
The AWPE Web site is designed to help California high school administrators measure the success of students in meeting the AWPE requirement. The Web site provides counts of California high school graduates enrolled at UC who have met the AWPE requirement by county and high school, broken down by numbers of students admitted and enrolled at UC, as well as the means by which they satisfied the requirement. Data for the Web site are extracted annually from the Undergraduate Admission Database.
