Voice Services sets up conference calls for UCOP staff. Two types of conference call technology are available: Meet-me and ReadyTalk; and Polycom equipment is available for installation.
MeetMe Conference Calls: Effective October 30, 2002, Voice Services upgraded the MeetMe bridge from 32 ports to 64 ports. This upgrade not only expanded the number of ports available, but also added new features. MeetMe bridge users may participate in conference calls from their office or from the road. The service costs $.005/minute/port, in addition to standard local or long distance charges. Upon receipt in Voice Services of a MeetMe reservation form, users are assigned a designated (510) dial-in number, meeting ID, and password. Voice Services requires that users submit their reservation forms a minimum of 24 hours in advance. To arrange a MeetMe conference call, complete the MeetMe reservation form, which may be e-mailed to MeetMe-l@ucop.edu or submitted on-line. Polycom Conference Calls: For conference calls with more than four participants, audioconference equipment, designed to boost audio quality, is available for setup in the medium and large conference rooms at Franklin, Kaiser, and 20th Street. If dialing outside of the 12-mile Oakland radius, an authorization code or use of calling card is required. There is no cost for installation and use of Polycom equipment. To reserve the Polycom equipment, please complete the Polycom reservation form. Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance. Instructions for using the Polycom are also available.
ReadyTalk Audio & Web Conferencing: ReadyTalk is available as a replacement to MCI conference services and as a complement to the UCOP MeetMe Bridge. Effective April 2007: per port, per minute costs are $0.035 and include the Web conferencing component at no additional charge. A conference call service requiring no reservations, ReadyTalk can support up to 96 participants per call. Each user receives a personal conferencing account that can be utilized at any time. Conference participants will dial a toll free number and enter an access code, and then will be placed on music hold until the chairperson enters the conference, utilizing a personal chairperson passcode.
