UCOP Mac Office users,
Microsoft has recently released the newest version of Office Suite 2011 for Mac, which includes a much improved e-mail client called “Outlook.” Unlike the clumsy Entourage e-mail client, Outlook for the Mac is more like the Windows version and has similar navigation tools.
The TechDesk will need to upgrade your version of Office to coincide with the e-mail server migration that will take place in the next few months, in part because Entourage is not compatible with the new e-mail server and you will need to use Outlook after the migration. (We will also migrate all your e-mail, contacts, and calendar events to Outlook.)
The TechDesk will contact you to setup a time to install the Office Suite. Once it’s been installed, you may use the new Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications. However, the Outlook client will not work until after your scheduled migration to the new e-mail server. During that time you can continue to use Entourage or OWA to access your email.
Attached are some basic user manuals for your review. If you have any questions or issues feel free to contact me or the TechDesk.
