Exchange Server Migration

IR&C will migrate UCOP email accounts to a new server starting May 6, 2011.

During the migration, your e-mail may be unavailable from 6:00 p.m. on Friday through 6:00 a.m. on Monday. Messages sent to you during this time will be delivered once your mailbox is back on-line. The smaller your mailbox, the less time your account will be off-line. Thus, you may wish to delete as much e-mail as possible beforehand, including the Junk, Deleted Items, and Sent Items folders.

A benefit of the upgrade is that mailbox limits are being expanded to 2GB. Otherwise, the upgrade primarily will impact OWA (the Web-based version of Outlook) and Mac users:

• OWA. OWA will look and feel more like your regular Outlook. In addition, it will enable you to set a custom Out-of-Office message for internal UCOP recipients that is different from the message for external recipients.
• Mac: For Mac users, Entourage will be replaced by Outlook 2011 for Mac, which has a more user friendly interface. The TechDesk will contact you directly to install the new Mac Office suite of applications.
