Desktop/Server Support Consolidation Plan

As the central IT department for UCOP, Information Resources and Communications (IR&C) will provide desktop and server support to Oakland-based departments. The purpose of consolidation is to make more efficient use of IT funding, and to ensure UCOP departments receive a uniform level of high-quality service.

In addition to the telecommunications, networking, and videoconferencing services currently provided, IR&C will provide:

           Transition Plan            


A reorganization of the existing desktop/server support in the departments is underway, with departments joining the centralized model in groups. As departments make the transition, IR&C will meet with departmental staff to fully explain services and answer questions.

UCOP desktop/server support is provided by the Technology Service Desk.
