How to Change Your Windows/AD Password Using (OWA)

  1. If you’re using a Windows system, open Internet Explorer
    Optionsmenuand go to http://owa.ucop.edu. People using Mac systems should use Safari.
  2. Login with your current Windows/AD password
  3. Click the Options button on the top right corner
  4. Click Change Your Password in the list on the left.
  5.  

  6. Fill in the following information
    1. Current password
    2. New password
    3. Confirm new password
    4. Click on Save

    Authenticate

  7. You should see the message below if you successfully changed your password: confirmation

 

Possible Problems:

  1. If you mistype your old password, you will see the following error message. Re-enter the old password correctly.

  2. If your new password does not meet the complexity requirements for UCOP passwords, you will see the following error message. Read the UCOP password policy to make sure you select the required mix of characters and numerals.

Password Policy

  1. Passwords must contain a minimum of 8 characters.
  2. Passwords must be 'complex'. Complex passwords
    • are difficult to ascertain (do not use such simple words as "password," "welcome," or "hellow")
    • do not include three or more consecutive characters from the user name
    • contain characters from at least thre of the following categories;
      • English uppercase letters (A-Z)
      • English lowercase letters (a-z)
      • Base 10 digits (0-9)
      • Non-alphanumeric (!,@,#,$,%,^,&,*,(,),-,+,<,>,?)
