Item 2 1999 Comments:
Line 1412 Chemical Engineering decreased due to the transfer of expenditures for the Fusion Energy Research Center
to Line 1416 Other Engineering.
Line 1423 Physics federal expenditures decreased as funding for the ITER project (International Thermonuclear Experimental
Reactor) terminated 10/98. Aditional funding was received, however the project is now winding down.
Line 1431 Atmospheric Science increased due to new funding at the Center for Atmospheric Science.
Line 1442 Computer Science increased due to an NSF grant awarded in 1999 (extending through 09/02) for the San
Diego Supercomputer Center.
Line 1452 Biological Science increased due to the movement of expenditures for Pathology from 1453 Medical Science
as well as increased spending at the Center for Research in Biological Structure.
Line 1454 Other Life Science decreased due to decreased expenditures for the White Mountain Research Station.
Line 1460 Psychology increased due to increased spending at both the Psychology and Cognitive Sciences departments.
New awards from Public Health Services account for the bulk of the increase.
Line 1472 Political Science increased and Line 1474 Other Social Sci due to the transfer of expenditures for Steering
Committee - Global Conflict from Line 1474 to Line 1472.
