Item 2 1999 Comments:
Line 1423 Physics increased in 1999 due to new funding from NASA for the High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager
project (HESSI) at the Space Sciences Lab.
Line 1442 Computer Sciences expenditures increased in 1999 due to inclusion of expenditures for Information Management
Systems, not included in prior surveys.
Line 1451 Agricultural Sciences decreased in 1999 due to:
a) transfer of expenditures from Ag Sciences to Biological Sciences. Those expenditures include: Nutritional Sciences,
Microbiology, Plant Biology, and Insect Biology.
b) decrease in General Assistance funds for Natural Resources: Agriculture and Resource Economics. Permanent positions
relinquished in 1996 budget cuts were funded on a temporary basis to allow affected employees to retire or seek
alternative employment opportunities.
c) renovations funded in 1998 from a restricted donation were from a fund that expired in 1999.
d) decrease in Forest Science explained by a transfer of oversight responsibility from the Division of Forest Science
to the Office of the Dean of the College's field stations in mid-year of 1999.
Line 1452 Biological Sciences increased due to a) above.
Line 1474 Other Social Sciences increased to do inclusion of expenditures for the Institute of Industrial Relations,
previously not included.
