Title Code System – Development of a Web interface to Title Code data is underway as are modifications to the Payroll system to accommodate the recent addition of sub location in the Title Code system.

Records Management Project – The pilot testing of Domino.Doc as a departmental filing and distributed document management system continues. Both the Domino server and Domino.doc have been upgraded to their respective latest versions, resulting in a stable pilot platform featuring improved performance and better integration of the Domino.doc with the Windows Explorer user interface.

Pathways – The web-based undergraduate admission applications system was used by about one third of UC undergraduate applicants. Response time for users remained good throughout. Work is underway on updating the system for use next year.

Federal Financial Aid Application (FAFSA) – In conjunction with the Pathways Admissions Application, for the second year under a pilot project with the US Department of Education on-line Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is being populated by Pathways-collected data to avoid students having to enter duplicate data into the FAFSA.

UCRS – The final DB2 database conversion project for the Membership system is underway. Implementation will occur at the end of March and early April.

Corporate Systems Upgrade – The personnel data warehouse project (that will entail use of Sybase IQ instead of Focus as the data repository) was completed. Work to develop web-based reporting is underway.

Investment Accounting Systems – An RFP for replacement Investment General Ledger, Short Term Investment Pool, General Endowment Pool and related systems was issued. Responses are currently being evaluated.

Risk Management – The final phases of migration to a new, in-house supported risk management system was completed in November, along with networking to the 10 claims offices using Cisco VPN technology, PacBell provided frame relay services, and UCOP operated Citrix servers. The Risk Management Information System is written in PowerBuilder with a Sybase backend running in the UCOP high availability AIX environment.

CorporateTime – Growth in the use of Corporate Time among UCOP staff continues. Currently approximately 900 staff in 13 departments use Corporate Time.

California Digital Library – Responses to the RFP for a replacement Melvyl system were received and final selection/contract negotiation is underway. The California Digital Library Technical staff were transferred from IR&C to Academic Affairs in December.

UC for Yourself – The next employee self service, web-based application--W4 update--is undergoing final testing and will be available for use in mid February. Subsequently release of an employment verification application will be completed. Later in the year access to "check stub" information via the Web will be complete.

Payroll System casual employment status upgrade – Work was completed to support the new definitions of casual appointments' benefit eligibility.

Payroll System Web inquiry - Work to provide a Web interface for inquiry into Payroll system records is underway. Subsequently a Web interface to PAN (post authorization notification) data will be undertaken.

New Method of Depreciation – Design on a system to support depreciation is underway and programming will start shortly.

UCOP Home Page Redesign - IR&C is working with University Relations at UCOP to update the UCOP home page and to try to provide more consistent and current data on departmental Web sites.

Virus protection - the anti virus functionality of the Nokia Firewall was implemented.

Electronic Software Distribution - Pilot use of LANDesk for software distribution has begun in IR&C. Depending upon success, it will be made available for use across UCOP.

Desktop hardware and software survey - A survey of desktops will be undertaken, in conjuction with Internal Audit, as part of an effort to consider means of reducing the costs of PC ownership.

Electronic Communication Policy - The updated policy was issued in November. Work to develop campus implementing guidelines is underway.

Records Management Policies - Work is underway to update the records management Business and Finance Bulletins.
