A tentative completion date of February 98 has been established for this final component.
Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources Information System-The clientele contact portion of this PowerBuilder application is being used in production by 18 counties. All remaining counties will begin to use the system no later than July 1, 1998. The effort reporting module is planned for testing in the late fall or winter and will go into production July 1, 1998. Conversion of the clientele portion of the system to support Macintoshes is also underway, with an estimated completion date of early 1998.
Records Systems- The Document Central application, a system supporting Executive Records at the Office of the President, went into production in June. Based on Excalibur technology, documents are stored in both text and image format. Searches can be completed via a Web client. A second application based on this technology is under development for the Secretary of the Regents. This system will store Regents meeting agendas and minutes.
Year 2000- Considerable resources are going into upgrading applications to be year 2000 compliant. The Payroll/Personnel System upgrade has been completed as previously reported. Final testing of the Retirement system conversion is underway. Considerable internal work is underway on various corporate systems.
Pathways- Based on feedback from the Universitywide advisory group and experience from last fall, the web-based undergraduate admission module of this system has been further enhanced. Testing by campus admissions staffs and high school students occurred during the last week of May and another round of testing occurred in August. The system will be available for use beginning September 17, ending December 1 with the closing of the Fall 1998 admission cycle. Use of the system is available to all applicants, unlike last year’s pilot which was available to student applicants from only 70 schools.
Demographic Database- A prototype of the Universitywide demographic database is under development. Production deployment is intended to include student records, providing campus librarians access to up to date information on currently enrolled students. A data request for daily student enrollment information to support this system will be distributed to campuses shortly.
Modification of the Payroll/Personnel system to accommodate a variety of accounting structures-The project to permit a wide variety of account structures within the Payroll/Personnel System was completed in time for use with the installation of the Davis Financial system effective July 1. A training session to review the associated payroll release for campus payroll technical staffs was held in Oakland in early September.
Benefits Voice Response- An enhancement scheduled for October 1 implementation will provide functions to enable new hires to select insurance plans.

After update, the standards were subsequently sent to the Administrative Vice Chancellors for comment from the perspective of application development outside the central IT organization.
Corporate System Review- The Deloitte & Touche review of corporate systems has progressed on schedule. The scope of the study includes an assessment of the extent to which the current systems meet user needs and an analysis of possible alternative technologies which might be employed to improve functionality. Deloitte’s report will be produced in October.
