Description
The Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) is an environment for storage and
retrieval of corporate systems data, both current and historical. The
goal of the CDW is to provide easy access to integrated, accurate, and
timely information through interfaces that facilitate querying and reporting
by end users.
The following systems are currently available in the CDW:
Contracts and Grants Data Warehouse - contains data extracted from the Corporate Contracts & Grants System (Awards and Proposals, their sponsors and Chart of Accounts Information).
Equipment, Facilities and Assets Data Warehouse - contains data extracted from the Corporate Equipment, Facilities and Assets Systems (inventory of campus buildings, rooms, and equipment).
Financial Data Warehouse - contains multiple cycles of data originating from the Corporate Account Fund Profile, the Corporate Financial System, and the Corporate Budget / Corporate Staffing systems.
Personnel Data Warehouse - contains multiple cycles of data extracted from the Corporate Personnel System (employee demographic, appointment and pay data).
Student Data Warehouse - contains selected data extracted from the Corporate Student System (undergraduate and graduate admission data, registration, degrees conferred).
Customers
The CDW serves not only the customers of its component corporate systems, but also enables users to extract data across systems for management information and use.
Access
The CDW is available Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Three options are available for direct access:
UCOP employees and contractors who require access to the data should complete an
IT Services Request form and indicate the
corporate system(s) for which data warehouse access is being requested.
Non-UCOP employees/contractors (e.g., campus personnel or individuals from external organizations) must sign and complete the Corporate Systems User Agreement.
An IR&C representative will provide information regarding the next steps.
Technical Information
Data from corporate systems are extracted and loaded into the CDW on a periodic basis depending on the system in question. The CDW runs the Sybase IQ database in the IBM UNIX (AIX) operating system environment.
