How to Create a Simple Focexec in WebFocus using Report Assistant

Log in to WebFocus via this screen at https://rpt.ucop.edu/ibi_html/workbnch/mrlogon.htm.

Select the Financial domain under Repository.  When you expand the Financial domain,

you will see options - Standard Reports, My Reports, Shared Reports and Reporting Objects.

Select the specific table you would like to use.  In many cases, and for this example, chose the Summary (All) for financial data from multiple or past cycles.

Right-click on this selection, and select Report Assistant from the menu that appears. You can also click on the Report Assistant icon in the toolbar.

You will be presented with a screen (below left) which shows all the fields in the table FIN_ALL_SUMMARY. you have selected, as well as a

screen where you can build your report by selecting different options.

Select each field and click the "Column" button. Here we selected Location_1, Location_2, Account, Fund, Sub_Account and Finance_Amount.

Select Sort fields by highlighting them and clicking on the Sort button. You will see the field appear in the "Sort by"

column above. These fields will be used for ordering the data, as well as for aggregating it, if appropriate. Select carefully;

sort fields should not ordinarily be fields which have a large number of values.

Shows "Where" clause tab and [New] "Where" clause button

Shows list of fields for the tableShows "Expression Builder" for "Where" clause.

Test your report by using a recordlimit before running it against the entire table.

Shows "Options" tab with Record Limit set to 100.

To select data fields which should be listed or aggregated, highlight the field name and click on Column. You will see the

field name appear underneath the Detail and Sum buttons. If you want to list the records, click on Detail. If you need to

Sum the field (which means to aggregate it in some way, not necessarily by adding), you will probably need to click on

[Field Options] button to specify how the field should be treated.
