I am very pleased to provide an update on the computer refresh phase of the Technology Asset Management Program. The “refresh” is the accelerated project to replace all Oakland-based UCOP computers that either are out-of-warranty or are four or more years old. Information Technology Services has convened a deployment team to focus exclusively on this project. The team is working with UCOP departmental administrators to identify the computers eligible for immediate replacement and to select the replacement models.
A schedule of the planned computer replacements has been posted. It indicates which individuals will receive a new computer and the week the replacement will occur. If you are on the schedule for a computer refresh, you will be contacted by the deployment team a few days in advance of your "scheduled week" with instructions and the exact date for your computer replacement.
Everything has been going very well, and we have already finished the replacements in the Kaiser Building. We expect the refresh program to be completed by the winter holiday. In January, we should be able to transition to the ongoing program to replace computers when their warranties expire.
It is very exciting to think that soon all staff will have up-to-date equipment. More information about the Technology Asset Management Program is available on the Web. If you have any questions about the refresh program, please contact the deployment team irc-tampdeployment-sa@ucop.edu
