Encryption Tools and Guidelines for UC

The University of California now offers campuses tools and guidelines for using encryption to secure restricted data.

Tools
The University recently completed a Request for Proposals for encryption products, which has resulted in the identification of two vendors. A systemwide contract with Pointsec has been signed. The agreement covers the following products:

• Pointsec for PC EW (Enterprise Workplace) (full disk encryption) - $44.75 per perpetual license
• Pointsec for PC MI (Management Infrastructure) (full disk encryption) - $44.75 per perpetual license
• Pointsec for ME (Media Encryption) - $11.00 per perpetual license
• Pointsec for PDA (Pocket PC, Palm, Symbian & Smartphone) - $24.75 per perpetual license
• Pointsec webRH – Server $7900.00
• Pointsec webRH – Client $3.50

• License Quantity: A minimum order quantity of 25 licenses is required.
• Maintenance and Support Services: The annual maintenance and support fee of 17.5% covers 24x7x365 technical support and free upgrades on relevant software purchases.
• Professional Services: Pointsec will train, advise, and assist the client in deployment. These services are offered at $2200.00 per diem, which includes travel expenses. All travel must be scheduled 10 days in advance.

Guidelines
