Everyone,

A few items...

UC's Identity Management Roadmap

As we discussed at our last meeting, here is a survey to determine where we all are with respect to our identity management roadmap.  I also discussed this at the last ITLC meeting and was asked to add AYSO integration to that roadmap:
  1. The campus implements some form of identification, registration, credentialing, and authentication processes and technology.  (All UC campuses are already past this stage, but the level of assurance varies, as does the technology's robustness and compatibility with modern standards like Shibboleth and LDAP.)
  2. The campus joins InCommon.  (Because of #1, all campuses are at a point where they can consider InCommon membership, probably without a tremendous implementation effort.  Joining InCommon enables access to many library resources and other services, such as online entertainment.)
  3. The campus refines its identity management processes to meet UCTrust's requirements.
  4. The campus certifies that meets UCTrust's requirements.
  5. The campus utilizes UCTrust to authenticate its employees to AYSO.
  6. The campus implements role-based authorization, privilege management, and group management.
I've attached a spreadsheet with space for each campus/lab/UCOP to show its progress to each of these milestones; it's also available on our group web site:

The ITLC will be discussing UC's overall progress at its next meeting in January with a goal of each campus committing to its schedule, so I propose that we talk about draft schedules during our 10/24/2006 meeting before everyone submits their final schedules for ITLC review.

With that in mind, please send me your first-pass schedule by Thursday, 10/19/2006, so I can summarize everyone's responses in time for our meeting.

Official Campus Contacts

Our listserv has group fairly large; I've attached it at the end of this message.  It's my feeling that we gain a lot of benefit from being open with respect to participation, but the ITLC would like to establish "official" campus contacts within the larger membership.  The CIOs know that they need to tell me who that person is for their campus, but you may want to touch base with them.

Agenda for the 10/24/2006 Meeting at UCR

I need agenda topics for our next meeting.  Please send me your ideas, and I'll distribute a strawman agenda late next week.

Thanks.

David
