Report on Fall 2005 California Community College Transfer Admissions
University of California campuses offered admission to 16,217 transfer students from California Community Colleges for Fall 2005, an increase of 5.5 percent more than in 2004. This marks the seventh consecutive year of universitywide growth in the number of transfer students offered admission, and represents a 47.6 percent increase in the number of California Community College applicants offered admission during this 7-year period.
All major racial and ethnic groups registered increases for the fall term. Underrepresented students (African American, American Indian, and Chicano/Latinos) increased slightly as a proportion of the total admitted transfer class, from 18.6 percent in 2004 to 19 percent in 2005. Mirroring the overall upward trend of California Community College admits, the growth in the number of underrepresented transfer students offered admission represents a 73.5 percent increase in admissions offers since 1998.
