Technology Infrastructure Fee Rates

Departments pay a monthly technology infrastructure fee (TIF) per individual to cover a standard computing bundle, office phone, voicemail, and network access. The TIF replaces the communications access fee (CAF) and covers more services for lower cost. The change from the CAF to the TIF will be reflected on the August ledger for July telephone charges.

TIF rates are charged according to whether an individual needs a new computer. The TIF rate will be evaluated on the basis of actual program costs after one year, and the rate may be adjusted at that time. Current TIF rates are as follows:

  • $30 a month per individual with an in-warranty computer. This rate provides a discount for departments that have already updated equipment.
  • $40 a month per individual once the computer is replaced. The higher rate covers replacement of an out-of-warranty computer with a standard computing bundle.

Process for Charging Departments: When ITS schedules a replacement, the Asset Coordinator adjusts the department's monthly TIF for that individual to the higher replacement rate. This rate is charged on an ongoing basis unless and until the TIF replacement rate itself is adjusted.
