Standard Computing Bundle & Approval Process
The standard computer bundle (PC desktop or laptop) is composed of higher-end models that meet most UCOP business needs. Specific models are subject to change per vendor. Departments may purchase any additional peripherals not included in the bundle (e.g., additional or larger monitors, keyboards, mice) for full price.
UCOP Desktop Bundle
The standardized desktop has the following:
- Powerful machine
- Good graphics capabilities
- Large hard drive for data storage
- Maximum memory available for Windows XP (4GB)
- High-end monitor: 21.5 LCD
- CD and DVD burner
- Built-in speakers
- Power efficiency
UCOP Laptop Bundle
Laptop options are included in the standard computing bundle. Departments must approve the use of a laptop in accordance with criteria in systemwide policy, G-46, Guidelines for Purchase and Use of Cellular Phones and Other Portable Electronic Resources. Per policy, each individual provided a laptop must sign a usage agreement, which ITS will keep on file.
Two Laptop Options
- High-performance option includes solid state drive. Improves boot-up time and overall system performance, but offers less storage.
- Light-weight option offers more storage but slightly lower performance.
