Purchase of Nonstandard Hardware/SoftwareNonstandard Hardware. Departments must obtain approval for nonstandard equipment, including Macs. If nonstandard hardware is necessary for the business function, the department should submit a request following the request guidelines for nonstandard hardware. If the nonstandard equipment request is approved, the Service Desk purchases the hardware and issues a one-time charge to the department for the difference in price between the standard computing bundle and the nonstandard equipment.
Peripherals and Nonstandard Software. Departments may purchase any peripherals (keyboards, additional or larger monitor, trackball mouse, etc.), or, any nonstandard software using their normal purchase procedures. We strongly encourage you to collaborate with Service Desk in the selection, quoting and configuration of your accessory item(s). Benefits of doing so, include;
- Ensure the selected items can effectively be supported
- Avoid follow-up orders.
- Get help with tracking the order and delays item.
