Supervisor's Guide to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

This guide provides a broad overview of the 1993 Federal Family and Medical Leave Act. The Department of Labor released final regulations in January 1995. This landmark legislation is complex and impacts almost all University of California employees. Most University personnel policies and collective bargaining agreements have been modified to incorporate the requirements of this legislation. However, please refer to the appropriate personnel policy or union contract for specific language on Family and Medical Leave.
