PROJECT

Food Recovery and Food Security

DESCRIPTION

Savannah's project involves gleaning unsold produce from farmers markets and distributing it to food insecure UCLA students. By continuing the partnership with Food Forward by coordinating UCLA student volunteers through the student group Swipe Out Hunger, she hopes to ensure the longevity of gleaning for years to come.

In addition, she is coordinating UCLA's CalFresh campaign, a campus-wide effort to get students who qualify enrolled in California's SNAP program. In collaboration with 580 Cafe, this campaign aims to utilize established campus groups and resources to get the word out about food assistance resources.
