Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Through Local Sourcing of Food

Description

His project aims to close the nutrient, water, and energy loop between farms and cities by exploring local food sourcing as a means to ensure adequate, sustainable and healthy food choices for all regions of the country. There is the potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through local food networks that can recycle nutrients, water and energy between cities and local croplands. Previous studies on local food have only considered greenhouse gas emissions associated with food miles (transporting food from farm to table), but those are negligible.
