GENERAL RECRUITER INFORMATION

California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education

The Southern California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education will take place on the campus of the San Diego State University. Campus address: 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA 92182.

The recruiter fair held in conjunction with the Forum will take place from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Recruiters will register at the recruiter registration area starting at 9:00 a.m.  A green room for recruiters and speakers will be available starting at 9:00 a.m.

Workshops for students will be held throughout the day, in classrooms surrounding the recruiter fair area. Students will be visiting the recruiter fair continuously from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. The day’s scheduled events include:

 

9:00 a.m.	Recruiter registration opens
10:00 a.m.	Recruiter table set-up begins
10:30 a.m.	Recruiter lunches available
12:00 noon	Recruiter fair begins
	To facilitate student visits, there will be NO workshop sessions between 12:00 noon and 2:00p.m.
3:00p.m.	Recruiter fair ends

Hotel Accommodations
The hotel for the Forum is the DoubleTree by Hilton, San Diego/Mission Valley. Hotel address: 7450 Hazard Center Drive, San Diego, California 92108, phone 619-297-5466.

Reservations via phone:The deadline for room reservations at the negotiated Forum rate has passed, but you can make reservations at the standard rate by calling the hotel’s reservation line 800-222-8733.

Hotel reservation deadline: March 13, 2012.  The hotel guarantees to hold the block of rooms at the negotiated Forum rate until March 13, 2012. The hotel will accept reservations after this date only on a space available basis, and rooms will be charged at the standard hotel rates.

Recruiter Reception: April 13, 2012
On Friday night, April 13, 2012, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Forum will host a dinner reception for all registered recruiters and for the Sally Casanova California Pre-Doctoral Scholars in attendance. These are students you will very much want to recruit. The reception will be held at the Catalina Room of the DoubleTree by Hilton.  Come visit with old friends, meet new colleagues, and be introduced to Sally Casanova California Pre-Doctoral Scholars.

Shipment and Handling of Materials
If you wish to ship materials in advance of the Forum, please use the following guidelines:

Materials must arrive at the campus by Thursday, April 12, 2012. Pre-printed address labels will be emailed to recruiters about two weeks before the Forum. We prefer that you use these labels for addressing your boxes. Make sure you fill in the recruiter name and telephone number on the label.

If you do not use the pre-printed shipping labels, please address the packages to:

If you are using an express company that requires a phone number for the recipient, please specify 619-594-5215.  You can find out whether your materials have been delivered or not by using the shipment tracking number to determine the status of your shipment via the web.

After the Forum you will be able to ship materials back to your home institution. Please attach self-addressed, pre-paid FedEx or UPS shipping labels on your packets. The express service will pick-up the materials on Monday morning after the Forum.

Getting there
If you are flying we recommend the use of San Diego International Airport/Lindbergh Field Airport (SAN), because it is a major airport with hundreds of scheduled flights a day. The Forum does not provide free transportation from SAN to the hotel or to the campus, but you can get to the Forum either by driving or by using a commercial shuttle service.

Trolley Service from the DoubleTree Hotel to the San Diego State University Campus: You will be provided all day trolley passes free of charge for each day of your stay at the DoubleTree Hotel. The Hazard Center Trolley station is located directly across the street from the DoubleTree Hotel.  The green line trolley will take you directly to SDSU and runs every 14 minutes.  The approximate time from the Hazard Center trolley station to SDSU is 15 minutes. Once you arrive at SDSU you will be directed to the registration table, which is just a short walk.
