GENERAL RECRUITER INFORMATION

TIME: Recruiter Fair from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, March 1, 2013

The 2013 Southern California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education will take place on the campus of the University of California, Irvine on Saturday, April 27. The recruiter fair, held in conjunction with the Forum, will take place from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Recruiters will register at the recruiter registration area starting at 9:00 a.m. A green room for recruiters and speakers will also be available starting at 9:00 a.m.

Workshops for students will be held throughout the day in classrooms surrounding the recruiter fair area. Students will be visiting the recruiter fair continuously from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. The day’s scheduled events include:

9:00 a.m. Recruiter registration opens
10:00 a.m. Recruiter table set-up begins
10:30 a.m. Recruiter lunches available
12:00 noon Recruiter fair begins
  To facilitate student visits, there will be NO workshop sessions between 12:00 noon and 1:15
3:00p.m. Recruiter fair ends

Hotel Accommodations
A block of rooms for the Forum has been reserved at the Atrium Hotel, located at 18700 MacArthur Blvd, Irvine, CA 92612. A recruiter rate of $95.00 per night plus tax is available which includes complimentary full breakfast buffet for up to four people and free overnight self-parking.

Recruiter Reception:
On Friday, April 26, 2013, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Forum will host a dinner reception for all registered recruiters and for the Sally Casanova California Pre-Doctoral Scholar at the Atrium Hotel. Come visit with old friends, meet new colleagues, and be introduced to Sally Casanova California Pre-Doctoral Scholars. If you intend to attend the Pre-Doctoral Scholars Reception and Dinner the night before the forum, please rsvp to gstark@calstate.edu by April 17, 2013.

SHIPMENT AND HANDLING OF MATERIALS
If you ship materials in advance of the Forum, please arrange for your materials to arrive at the UCI campus between Monday, April 8 and Friday, April 19, 2013. Pre-printed address labels will be emailed to recruiters two weeks before the Forum. Please use these address labels for your boxes and fill in the recruiter name and telephone number on the label.

If you want your materials to be shipped back to your institution after the Forum, please attach a self-addressed, pre-paid FedEx or UPS shipping label on your boxes. Materials are scheduled to be picked up on Monday, April 29, 2013.

GETTING THERE
If you are flying, we recommend the use of either Los Angeles International airport (LAX), John Wayne (SNA), or the Long Beach airport (LGB.) The Forum does not provide free transportation from the airports to the hotel or to the campus, but you can get to the Forum either by driving or using a commercial shuttle service.

To the Forum from the Atrium Hotel:

  • Head northeast on MacArthur Blvd toward Michelson Drive
  • Turn right onto Michelson Drive
  • Take the 2nd right onto Dupont Drive
  • Turn right onto Jamboree Road
  • Turn left onto Campus Drive
  • Turn right on W Peltason Drive
  • Turn left onto Pereira Drive
  • Turn left into Student Center Parking Structure
